Expeditions by Nature

Lunch in the vine rows, culinary vegetable garden and immersive experiences in the greenery

LESSON FROM A RESTAURANT GARDEN & WINETASTING
The experience of cultivation techniques that feed Torciano’s diners will produce lunches and dinners for your family

Taste of the fresh, homegrown produce, row after row, in the kitchen garden near the restaurant.

Like many successful gardens and orchards, this one was born out of necessity. In the spring of 1962, Antonietta and Romano Giachi, Pierluigi’s parents, farmers and co-owners, began cultivating the vegetable garden in Tenuta Torciano.

Green Dream

At the Torciano restaurant, the vegetable garden and our farmers are there waiting for you to choose the vegetables for your lunch. Upon arrival, you see it in the lined rows overflowing with green lettuce plants, cabbage, tomatoes, cucumbers, aubergines, courgettes and lots of nature ready to be chosen by you and collected together with our greengrocer. You see it in the outrageous floral shows in the dining room.

It is on the menu and on the plate, from the appetizer to the first dish, to the second dish with side dish up to the dessert with the fruit of our orchard. And while you enjoy the taste of fresh homemade products, you can look around and admire our vineyards, our garden with the scents and colors of roses, with a glass of wine in hand, walking in our half-acre vegetable garden behind the restaurant.

A walk in the Garden

As they stroll from the restaurant to the garden through our rose garden, they enter the garden, they are received surrounded by waves of vegetables.

From there they pass by the beds thick herbs or overflowing with edible vegetables.

There are tall branches of tomatoes with bright peas that enthusiastically climb on them. There are aubergine beds with leaves and shades of green and red than the owners have ever imagined.

An oasis of peace

Everything is clean and tidy like an exhibition garden. But in reality, this is an organized cellar, which supplies most of the vegetables to a kitchen that feeds 2000 people per week, from March to November.

This can be the final test of a vegetable garden. There is no margin for error. It must balance productivity, taste, innovation and beauty and above all experience.
